Mind at Large is the concept Aldous Huxley presents in The Doors of Perception, arguing that psychoactive drugs disable the filter of consciousness and allow for an enlarged perception of reality. Taking this as a point of departure, the installation emphasizes the role perception plays in our understanding of the physical, the virtual, and the difference between the two. Objects and symbolism derived from the book are embedded in a haptic feedback virtual reality installation that includes tangible objects with which to interact.
Mind At Large was made with the generous support of the 2017 Art Tech Grant from 4Culture.
